Every so often in life, you meet people that get you. Kenia is one of those people in my life. We clicked immediately two years ago over a love of peanut butter. From there, we found a million things in common – our love of owl decor, cute office supplies, fitness and running, dogs, and travel. When I met her then-boyfriend Paul, I knew they were something special as a couple.
I jumped at the chance to take her anniversary photos because of the location and the way I knew her and Paul connected and interacted. They sparkle in person and their love is undeniable, and I knew I could showcase that with my camera given the chance.
October in Las Vegas is usually either hot or cold. Some years it can be in the 50s, and other years you’re barely out of the 100’s and begging for cooler weather. This year, we were somewhere in the middle. It started off tolerable and just got hotter as the afternoon wore on. The first part of the session we shot down by the river because there were some “fall colors”. Everyone in Las Vegas understands why that’s in quotation marks. “Fall Colors”.
A few things I want to point out for you in the below photos. A) Her hair. #HAIRGOALS B) Can you guess what they were whispering to each other to get those huge smiles? If you can guess, I will give you $10. C) Fall colors, Vegas style. D) Look at how insanely happy they look together!
So, as if this wasn’t already perfect enough, there is MORE! A whole second location.
Okay, I have to admit, for my fellow photographers, I was over the moon excited about our second location. You feel me, fellow photogs, right? We all have those places we are dying to photograph our couples and families. And they were kind enough to let me choose this location and I could. not. be. happier.
The dry lake beds outside of Boulder City, NV. This is where we created something that makes magic look boring and unimpressive.
I have been dying to photograph here for years. I almost had the opportunity a few months ago but the Las Vegas summer had a 115 degree day in mind, so it wasn’t going to happen without heatstroke. So, I was super excited to give it another shot this October. I had never worked there, didn’t know where to go, and am SO grateful that Paul a) has a Jeep and B) was willing to drive around in circles for 20 minutes trying to find me the perfect spot.
I won’t even waste your time with narratives about this session. I will leave it simple for you: She looked smoking. He looks like she’s the only person worth looking at in the universe. This location is literally my spirit location.
Okay, enough with the words, my friends. Now, the photos!!! The gorgeous gorgeous photos. Is it weird if, as a photographer, I print these and hang them on my own wall?
Kenia & Paul,
I cannot thank you enough and tell you how much it means to me to share in this special season of your lives. You are magic together and I hope your beautiful spark continues to shine for years to come. Your beauty begins on the inside and radiates out of you, and I cannot thank you enough for sharing that beauty with so many, including myself.
